PSPO Advice for Residents - Wardleworth |
||
|
We want to share a friendly reminder for everyone across Rochdale, including residents and shop goers in Wardleworth.
Rochdale’s Public Space Protection Orders are in place to help keep public areas safe and comfortable. These orders allow action to be taken when begging becomes intimidating, when people loiter to ask for money in a way that causes discomfort, or when money is collected without permission in restricted areas.
We’re aware of concerns about someone regularly asking for money outside some buisnesses. Please know that not all individuals who beg are homeless. If someone approaches you for cash, whether outside a shop, a grocer, or elsewhere, please don’t feel pressured to give money. The safest and most effective way to support people who genuinely need help is by donating to recognised local charities and support services who can provide proper care.
By staying aware and choosing to help in the right way, you’re protecting vulnerable people and helping keep our public spaces welcoming for everyone. If you ever feel concerned, uncomfortable, or notice behaviour that seems aggressive, please report it so we can deal with it appropriately. There are dedicated support groups for vulnerable persons which you could help contact if anyone is genuinly in need of help.
Thank you for looking out for your neighbours and helping maintain a safe, respectful community.
